I rencently purchased a Glock G 23 and I have no complaints concerning the performance or quality of the gun. But I don't understand why both mags, designed to hold 13 rounds will only take 12. Neither will take 13 Rem. Golden Sabers or the Hornady's I like to use for carry. I'm not saying it's hard to get them in, it's impossible. It's really not that I just gotta have that 13th round, but is this normal for Glock mags?

Are you sure you have 40 cal mags and not 357? For some reason I can not top off 357 mags with 40's but have no problem the other way around.

It is hard to do with new mags.
But I assure you they will hold 13 rounds if you push hard enough.

After they have been fully loaded several times & used a while, it will be way easier.

They are both stamped .40. I have got the 13th round partially (over 1/2) in both mags, and placed the end of the round against an old oak table using all I could of my 210 lbs. and it would not go in. I won't get so frustrated and pull that stupid stunt again. With slightly less effort I can get 13 Win. range rounds in.

When I first got my Glock 23 about 15 years ago, I had the same problem with all three new mags.

I was using the "Glock Perfection" mag loading tool, and pushing with all my strength.
Then the mag loader tab folded double and I tore my thumbnail off on the mag feed lip!!

After throwing it in the nearest trash can, I got them all loaded the old fashioned way and started using them.

Now, all three mags are very easy to fully load.

try loading 12 and then smacking the bottom of the mag vertically against a wooden surface. You probably will be able to fit the 13th in then.

I fired 150 rounds with the 23 today without a problem. Guess I'm just getting lazy in my old age. I bought another mag for the 23 and a 15 round mag for the 9mm. I think I've finally got the hang of the Glock trigger system. (also put another 150 through the G 26....man what a sweet little gun!). The larger cap mag looks kinda funny, but I'm almost positive I'll have a Glock it will fit just fine. Guess I'm hooked. I don't even think they're ugly!
