Anyone had the chance to own or shoot both? Both similar in length, weight, capacity, but for people with large hands which 1 fits better. The G19 shows a 1.18" vs USPc 1.3" but that might not be a bad thing. I'm used to the DA/SA of a P226(HK V3) but could adjust to the Glock. So for a reference I'm used to the "feel" of a P226 or P228 so will the G19 feel to small. Thanks for the help.

I carry a Glock 23, so I can speak to that, but I've only handled HKs, so I can't say too much about those with authority.

If you are looking at the HK I'm thinking of, it does feel noticeably "bigger" to me than my Glock does. That'll be up to personal preference. Ditto whatever action you take for you H&K vs. Glock's constant trigger pull.

The things I don't like about the HK. One, it is much more expensive than the Glock. Probably at least $200, depending on what deal you get. Two, I find the checkering on the HK to be very aggressive, to the point of being uncomfortable. Again, that's a matter of personal preference, but I don't like it that much.

Like I said, I've never shot an HK. But I'm not sure I'd want to carry one instead of a Glock even if I had. I find my Glock to be light, comfortable (both in my hand and to carry), reliable, accurate, simple, and easy to clean. Most of those virtues can be applied equally to the HK, so take that with a grain of salt.

I guess what I'm saying is you really should try both. They are both good guns and about the same size, so it's going to come down to personal preference.

My opinion follows similarly to the lines of Phantom Warrior.

Glock 19 vs USPc, my vote would be the Glock.

Both weapons are spectacular handguns, The glock and USP are both Reliable. Both are "relatively" lightweight. But the USP doesn't really doesn't fall into the compact category. Its on the big size in terms of being compact.

What I do like about the Glock is the easy manual of arms. Just pull the trigger and it shoots. Its also very easy to field strip as well as detail strip. At 21 oz empty, this gun disappears and you wont even know you're carrying it. The Glock is much thinner and smaller than the USP so it'll be easier to conceal.

The USP has pretty good ergonomics, the option of using DA/SA or condition one (cocked & locked). Only thing is, the frontstrap and backstrap checkering really does hurt. After firing the USP .45, I round my hands to be sore from the checkering. I even had indents in my fingers from the checkering. That sole reason turns me away from the gun. Otherwise I would truly consider one, very much.

Hold the Glock, see how it points. Then hold the USP, which feels more natural to you? For most people, including myself the Glock points naturally high. I have to readjust my grip to get it to point straight.

The USP's grip might fill your hand better, since it has the thicker grip of the two.

Only way to see which one feels better to you is to rent them at the range.

Good luck :)

I love the aggressive checkering on the USP.

I even put skate tape on the sides of the grip, frontstrap, and under the trigger guard for a more aggressive grip.

Of the two listed, play with 'em both (shoot 'em if you can) before deciding. I like the USPf myself.

Have not had experince with the compacts but owned a G-17 and USP9-Full size.

HK was a bit more accrurate (or I could just shoot it better). Other than that liked everything about the Glock better and traded off the USP. I could see someone else with different preferences doing same thing other direction, whichis fine of course.

What I can't see is the price difference between the two :scrutiny:

I've 'owned' a few Glocks...1st was a 23 that I traded away for something when I got rid of all my 40's in a grand consolidation of calibers move a few years ago, then there was the 21 I had that went kb! that Glock warrantied & I traded away for something, then there was the 36 I had when I wanted a sub compact 45 acp, then there was the 17 I got in a trade that I used to trade for something else  then finally, most recently, I picked up one of those 2 tone 19's that I have managed to hang onto so far.

I also have a USP 45, an Expert 45, a USP 9 & more to the point, a USPc 9.

Short story long, I'd go w/ the USPc 9. Nothing really compares to the way HKs shoot & feel

Glock 19 feels bigger and shoots like a bigger gun than the USP9C. The USP9c has a noticeably shorter barrel and sight radius. I have big hands and the G19 is more big-hand friendly, especially if the USPc is anything other than LEM. The finger rest mags on the USPc do help though.

I've had both, now have a G19 and am getting a HK P2000. That may be a more interesting comparison.

I think some folks might think you're comparing a full-size USP to the Glock.

In my experience (bearing in mind I'm a Sig guy), the USP compact is alot more ergonomic than the G17. Better grip angle, and it does feel a bit thinner in the grip than the Glocks.

As far as trigger, no comparison. The HK is like a "vague" Sig trigger. You can't feel the point where "breaks" quite as distinctly, but it's still a nice, smooth pull on both DA and SA. With Glock, you get blisters (in fact, that's my new motto :))

I used to own a USPc, which I sold, in part because the grip was too small for my hands. I now carry a Glock 19, which fits and points wonderfully for me.

As others have said, the quality present in both weapons is top notch. The USP had a slightly more 'tank-like' feel to it overall. I did NOT like the fact that you couldn't detail strip it without voiding the warranty. I did not like the roll pins, or the plastic trigger. I did not like the very heavy, long first trigger pull.

For me, the Glock 19 is a keeper.

Tag, the trigger isn't plastic on the USP, or any other HK pistol that I'm aware of.....Its metal under the coating.

Well, while my USP Compact isn't 9mm, I can compare my Glock 23 and USP-40 Compact, both very similar to their 9mm chamberings. I much prefer my USP to my Glock though I have no real problem with the Glock 23 as a carry weapon either. I find the USP is more accurate and has a better grip angle and it's a lot more versatile. I can cary it cocked and locked, traditional DA/SA or if I want, I can install the LEM trigger or a traditional DAO trigger instead. I installed ambidextrious safety levers on mine and the ambidextrious magazine release is another benefit as well. No, I don't feel undergunned or carrying a sub-standard weapon in my Glock but I do think the HK is a bit better.
