GA Small Game dates conflict with Big Game

How does it work if the small games and big game are the same see below(copied straight from GA WMA season date opening)

Does it mean 2 groups of hunters(sg/bg) will be in the area in same day, same time no problem? Can anyone explain who it work?

For example, if I only hunt small game in Redlands WMA on 11/19/2012, Deer hunter date also post as Either Sex: Oct. 20-Dec. 2 s | Dec. 26-Jan. 1. so the date conflict. What should I do?

You can hunt small game Aug 15 - Feb 28 except during the short big game dates. During those times you can only hunt big game according to the season on most WMA's. This place is the only one I've seen where big game is the entire statewide season. Somewhere there is a phone # for that area manager. I'd call for a clarification. I hunt on a lot of WMA's. I've not seen anything like this on the others

"Furbearers may not be hunted during firearms deer hunts" is the part you meant to highlight, right?

Go to page 35 in the regulations. It explains this. If I'm reading this right, no small game hunting during the dates open for deer hunting. They define furbearers as Raccoon, opossum, fox, and bobcat, which also cannot be hunted during this time. Small game, if it is otherwise in season may be hunted at any other time. Small game seasons are on page 28.


This is the way it is on all WMA's I've hunted on. I hunt on a lot of the WMA's in the northern 1/3 of the state and have never seen a WMA with the big game season running the entire length of deer season. Most of them are open Wed-Sat or Sun. They are usually open only 2-3 times a season and only 4-5 days at a time.
