Okay so I just came across this review; https://revolverguy.com/galco-walkabout-j-frame-holster/ of this holster. I really like the concept, but according to the piece, it is somewhat lacking in the execution. I'm not too worried about that though, as there are plenty of leathermakers and kydex folders out there that I can get to make me a version.
I personally always thought those holsters that had a pouch for a spare mag on them were retarded since you wouldn't be able to reach them with your off hand, but for a wheelgun this would be just fine. I use the "FBI reload" or the "universal reload" anyway, so the revolver is in my off hand anyway, and I'm reaching for the speedloader with my shooting hand.
What are some of ya'lls thoughts on this?

Holsters like these, with an area for spare ammo, only really work when carried appendix carry. That way, you can reach the ammo for a reload with either hand.

As for the Walkabout holster itself, I hate it. I very recently started carrying AWIB with a subcompact semi-auto. The Walkabout was the first holster I bought to carry AIWB. Because like you I like the concept of gun and spare ammo right there. In reality, I hated the holster. There is no way to adjust the height of the holster so it wasn't digging into either my thigh or ribs on my body. With everything I hated about the Walkabout in mind I looked for other options for AIWB.

I still like the concept of having my spare ammo right next to the firearm for AIWB carry just couldn't find a holster that fit everything I wanted. The Protos-M is how I am currently carrying AIWB.
