Gander Mountain coming to St Louis

We have a GM. The prices are high. It's a nice place to go, handle the goods, and whip out the smart phone and order for less elsewhere.

Agreed with the poster above.

I have Cabelas, Bass-Pro and Gander Mountain, each within 30 minutes from me. Gander Mountain's guns are a good bit more expensive than the Cabelas, which seems to be the cheaper of the 3 around here. GM's guns are also FAR more expensive than reliable online sources, such as Bud's Guns; sometimes 20-25% more expensive.

Ammo, however, is priced well at GM and is always available. I generally go there for my 9mm and shotgun shell needs. Walmart is a little cheaper (but not much as GM will often have carious 9mm ammo on sale) but it's tough catching it on the shelf and GM always has something at a decent price ammo-wise.

That's a bit disappointing I say the same thing about Bass Pro here, with the occasional exception of a deal on a sale item or used gun. Cabelas on the other hand has deals to be found.

I go to Bass Pro several times a year. I rarely walk out with anything in hand because I find their prices to be high. Never been in a Cabelas, but have done a fair amount of mail order buying and was satisfied.

We have a GM and Bass Pro and they are both higher, and less knowledgeable, than our local dealers. Don't patronize GM or Dicks and go to BP about twice a year to look at the fish and the overhead hunters cabin.

best,
jr

Don't get excited. Gander has prices on par with Bass Pro. I'm with those above who rarely to never buy there.

I've only been in the STL Bass Pro a couple of times, and I've never bought anything from them. I have yet to go into the Cabela's (I work in St. Charles, and drive past BP every day). I'm sure I'll find my way in there eventually, just like I'm sure I'll find my way into the Gander Mtn when it opens. I've always thought their catalog prices were a bit high, too. For me, I still prefer to spend my gun and reloading money at my LGS, or Midway.

I think Gander is cheaper than Bass Pro. I kind of like Gander. Ours had bulk 9mm (250 rd I think) in the middle of the panic. They treat you pretty good, service and such. Some of these gun places treat you like they're doing you a favor by ringing you up. Not so with Gander. Ive never been to a Cabelas.

I can say that Bass has a much larger reloading aisle. Its just a shelf or two at Gander.
