I have a box (100) of Winchester 240gr lead swc gas checked bullets....can these be loaded to low power loads as lead bullets without gas cks? My load for these is for a Ruger 44mag Vaquero & a Redhawk.....Unique-7grs.....Titegroup-5grs....and a few other midrange loads, see any problems on mid range power with gas cks??

Are they half jackets or a true gas check?
Looking at Alliant current data (240 lead) 7.0 gr should get a GC out the end of the barrel.

If a half jacket, i would use more powder.

*1999 Alliant maximun data- 240 gr lead GC Unique-11.8gr-1255 fps- 35,000 PSI.*

they won't be any kind of problem,i've shot gas checked rifle bullets.. 30-30 reduced power loads using Unique, they shot fine .

Gas checks protect the bullet's base. No problem with light loads...(I haven't seen a Half Jacket bullet from the factory in many years).
