Gas System Question

Ok I feel kinda dumb for having to ask this, but are the AR-15 and the AR-10* gas blocks the same? I have an Aero Precision barrel on my AR-10 build, .750 under the block, and am looking to buy the gas system parts to finish the front end. I get a discount from one website that is much better than anywhere else I look, but their 308 specific stuff is a tad lacking. I am going with a low profile gas block to fit under my float tube, gas tube and pin. Will AR-15 parts work?

*I am using AR-10 in the generic sense. My build is DPMS pattern.

Yes and no. .308 blocks are a smidge taller, the gas tube hole a touch higher. AR-15 blocks will fit, but I have seen more than once an issue with gas tube clearance on the barrel just behind the block. If you don't mind clearancing a little, it's not a problem.

The short answer is they can be. There isn't any real standards with the AR10. You have to measure your barrel and compare it to the AR15 gas block. DPMS has a chart that tells you compatabilty.

According to Aero Precision any .750 gas block will clear their barrel and should work just fine.
