Hello everybody long time lurker, but i love this site because it's full of usefull information.

I recently acquired a George Lawrence 579 holster, does anybody know what this holster may fit? I tried it on my 357 blackhawk it may work but it is really tight especially around the adjustable sight.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Thanks

According to the George Lawrence size chart in my 1967 Shooters Bible:

The Lawrence #579 fits a 5 1/2" Ruger Single-Six .22 revolver.

(Not the Super Single-Six with adjustable sights, which uses a #656)

I can't tell you how many thousands of rounds I drew and fired with my 1967 Single Six from a Lawrence holster.

doc or Rcmodel

Would you be able to tell me what holster number X79/565 is made for? Also how can I get a copy of the codes? Thanks John

The #79 Holster = Gunslinger II (Western cowboy style).

The 565 code = Hi Standard .22 Sentinel revolver with 6" barrel.

When attending gun shows, look for a vintage George Lawrence catalog. Or just ask on THR.

Old Fuff..I,m not familiar with the High Standard revolver you mentioned. But do you think it would fit a old model Ruger Single Six .22 5 & 3/4" barrel

The old Hi Standard company made a .22 double-action revolver, which in some versions was made to look like an SAA "cowboy" six-shooter.

A 5 1/2" Ruger Single Six (without adjustable sights) might fit, but you'd likely have to dampen (not soak) the pouch, and then insert the revolver after wrapping it in plastic cooking wrap, or a plastic bag. Thereafter let it dry slowly in a warm but not hot place.

If you have the holster you might try it. If not and are thinking of buying it I'd suggest that you pass unless the price is particularly attractive. In its favor, it it a top-quality product. Most Lawrence holsters were oil-finished, and if that is the case with this one, finish the job by applying a coat of oil, made to be used on leather.

Back with another George Lawrence holster number. Can anyone look it up in their old Shooters Bible for me. The number is 79/580. I was told that it was made for a Ruger Bearcat.

Thanks John

Have a request If someone wouldn't mind looking this up for me. Lawrence holster # 79/580. Was told it was for a Ruger Bearcat. If not could you tell me what number the Bearcat needs?

Thanks John
