I own a S/42 G ( 1935 ) K98k Mauser rifle caliber 8x57 Mauser. On the base of the front sight is what I believe to be a proof mark, "K 167". Would any of you have any info on what the K 167 represented, or if it represented a certain factory, or whatever? I would really apprecitate it. Merry Christmas to all on the HIGHROAD!

Since S/42 G refers to Mauser-Werke, AG, Oberndorf am Neckar (1935 only?). The K may refer to Kraftfahrabteilung [(Police) Motor Transport Unit], and the 167 is the Unit #. I found this info in Mauser Military Rifle Markings by Terence W. Lapin, 2nd edition.
