I'm looking at buying a mid-1970's Glenfield .30-30 lever gun, wood is dark but in decent shape, has the leaves and deer head carvings in it. Rifle has a Western Field 4-12x (40?) AO scope and some crusty old leather sling. Blueing is still pretty good, I'd say 80-85%, looks like it sat around for a good long time. Does not look like it's been dragged thru the brush or beat up behind the seat of some old truck.
Seller is asking $250 and I left a deposit on it today.
What can you tell me about these rifles? I'm guessing they're made by Marlin.
I forgot to look/ask but are they side-eject? With a scope on it, I just assumed it was.
Are parts still available for these guns/interchangable with Marlin?
Are they typically accurate?
Are they reliable? Or where they cheaply-made junk?
