I'm looking at buying a mid-1970's Glenfield .30-30 lever gun, wood is dark but in decent shape, has the leaves and deer head carvings in it. Rifle has a Western Field 4-12x (40?) AO scope and some crusty old leather sling. Blueing is still pretty good, I'd say 80-85%, looks like it sat around for a good long time. Does not look like it's been dragged thru the brush or beat up behind the seat of some old truck.
Seller is asking $250 and I left a deposit on it today.

What can you tell me about these rifles? I'm guessing they're made by Marlin.
I forgot to look/ask but are they side-eject? With a scope on it, I just assumed it was.
Are parts still available for these guns/interchangable with Marlin?
Are they typically accurate?
Are they reliable? Or where they cheaply-made junk?

It's basically a Marlin 336... Replacement parts should be available through Marlin... yes, side eject. Accurate out to about 150 yards for deer. The only real difference between it and the Marlin 336 is the wood... the Glenfield had Beech instead of Walnut...

At $250, I'd buy it...
