Yep like the title says guys they just revealed this at SHOT SHOW I'm super pumped I've been waiting for this for a long time hell yes!!!!!! Is anybody else excited about this?

Well guys I understand some of you may not care for it that's fine. As for me I've been waiting on Glock to do this because,

1) They have different Micro red dots you can mount when you have a slide milled it is usually only for one brand of MRD.

2)If something happens I can send it to Glock.

3)I think I will be able to use this more effectively than just irons.

4)Since it is an OEM option now if I sell it I won't have to say "well so and so did the milling and such".

5) I trust That Glock will do it right.

This is part of why I am so excited

I'll be getting one.

And having the slide milled may not necessarily be cheaper. You'd need to refinish the slide to cover the bare metal. Not to mention you're stuck using one brand of optic for the mill. The MOS system will work with a variety of different brand red dots and comes with 4 different mounting plates. Not to mention, the factory mill specs can be used by other companies to fab their own mounting plates to fit an even wider range of red dots. The MOS system makes a standardized mill cut that will be the same for all their guns.

I have a 34 MOS. If I had it to do over again I would have just milled a gen3 gun.
There are only 2 brands of RDS that will stand up to the abuse of a slide mount, both cost almost as much as the gun. So your locking yourself into one type anyhow. Not exactly a penny pinching endeavor. All those wonderful plate options do nothing but waste space.

The front sight on a Glock is attached somewhat precariously by a tiny screw.

The taller suppressor sights are even more precarious as the added length adds to the leverage against that tiny screw.

Burris Fastfire 3 on my 34 MOS has about 900 rounds on it so far. For probably the cheapest red dot option, it's holding zero and functioning perfectly. Hoping to get more rounds through it when it warms up. Curious to know when or if it will fail to take the "abuse". My brother has the Vortex and it wasn't too much more than the Burris. And with the Vortex warranty, if it did happen to fail, I'm sure Vortex would send you a new one for free. Rinse and repeat if necessary.

Rinse and repeat if necessary.

Thats why I said your locked into one anyhow.. We know they will all fail eventually and most manufactures will repair them, assuming you didnt smash it with a hammer.

Then you're only "locked" into one by choice. You buy any other brand you want if your last one fails.

And this isn't something that's specific to Glock. If all red dots will eventually fail when mounted on a slide like you say, then the same can be said for S&W and FN models that are milled for a red dot also.

Correct. The gun itself is trivial.

Out of context, I know - but if perfection means that the G40 is a 10mm - it's not right, even if it is .400" diameter. Here's to confused novices for years to come, seeking out a "Glock forty."

If that's the most exciting news Glock has coming out of SHOT 2016, I'll be very disappointed.

I'm happy for those of you that use red dots on your Glocks, but I'm not one of those people.

It makes more sense to mill the short barreled guns for optics than it does the long ones. After all the long barrel is mainly for a better sight radius.

What are the two brands? I'm guessing the Trijicon RMR and either the Vortex Razor or Leupold Deltapoint?

You're mad the model 40 Glock isn't chambered in .40? lol lol

What Glock SHOULD have done and I kept wishing they could is make the model 40 a .22lr trainer
