I'm looking to buy a new gen 4 26 and I was wondering what they are like. Anyone have any thoughts (pros or cons) about this pistol? I might add that I want a gen 4 model instead of the gen 3 because that's all my local gun shop carries. I don't like to buy guns that I can't check out first.

I like the Gen4 G26 more than the Gen3, because I can reach the mag release without breaking my grip.

On the bigger models, I prefer the Gen3.

I own 4 pistols-Glock 26 Gen 4, Glock 19 Gen 3, HK USP 9mmC and Sig P238.

If I had to keep one pistol in terms of accuracy, reliability and to take to the end of the world....it would be my Glock 26 Gen 4. I have 6 mags and 2 backup recoil springs. I don't have huge hands, 5'9, 180. Love this gun. This being said....a .45 HK will soon be mine :).

the gen4 26 has the exact same upper assembly as the gen3 (slide/barrel/recoil assembly).

the only difference between the two are the grip size, mag release, and grip texture.

get whichever one feels the best for you, that gen4 is good to go :)

I went with the Gen 3 because I don't want the Gen 4's rough textured grip tearing up my clothing/skin as I wear it. The Gen 4 grip just does not make sense to me on a CC gun.

Also, as you may know the Gen 4 2 pros are that it comes with 3 mags and comes with grip backstraps to customize to your hand.

I ended up with a Sig P290 but prior to buying it I was strongly considering a Glock26. I had the gen 4 and 3 side by side a few times. If I went with a G26 it would have most likely been the gen 3. The gen 4 feels a little better in the grip but the gen 3 has a slightly better trigger and was usually ~$40-50 less expensive in the shops that had them.

I got the Gen4 26 and love it. It fits my hands well and I'm surprised how accurate it is for such a small gun. Mind you, I'm 6'2", but have medium sized hands.
