I have Glock 9x19 with extended mag release.
I carry in a Galco Miami Shoulder Holster which works very well for me.
The other day I grabed a Fobus Paddle, I almost never use, and out the door I went. Back home, when removing the paddle, I compressed it and out popped the mag. (Not a good thing)

After inspection I found the entended release was touching inside the holster and holster was pushing on the release. This is not a problem with the Galco. The problem was solved by notching out the spot that was hitting the release.

Just a heads up to the 'Extended Release' Guy'z and Girl'z

~BEST~

Yep, I been where you're coming from. Have a Bianchi thumb break that did the same to me. Only difference was my mag dropped out in the middle of a busy truckstop. Oops! The waitress just looked at me, smiled and said "Oh is that yours dear. I have a .32 in my pocket." Needless to say she got a real good tip that day.

Not a big fan of extended anything.
I switched the extended magazine release on my Glock 34 when I had the same experience with a Blade-Tech thigh holster.
I was sitting with the pistol pressing against the seat bottom and my leg and the leg protecter pushed against the release and out popped the magazine.

Larry Vickers has developed a slightly extended mag release that makes things reloads a bit quicker but doesn't extend as far out. That may solve this problem.

What is an extended magazine release? OR are we talking about extended magazine that released!

My department has been experimenting with the extended mag releases on Glock 35's. Our TOT guys have all switched over from the 22 and have been using a variety of holsters, on and off duty types, without a single reported accidental release incident. Some, including myself, have filed/dremeled the corners off to make them more comfortable for left handed and iwb use.

Just to be clear, this is the factory extended magazine release.

Mine was the factory extended release on a Glock 34.
The Holster was a Blade Tech thigh rig and the holster wasn't the cause of the release, the Kydex Leg panel was.
I should also add that this holster is designed to carry the pistol with a Streamlight M3 light attached and I was sitting on a chair with the gun and holster under my leg and pressed against the seat of the chair when the magazine popped out and dropped to the ground.

I did not ever have this problem with my Blade-Tech belt holster with does not have the light carrying ability.
Anyway, switching to a standard magazine release and trying to duplicate the event produced positive results, it hasn't happened again.
Your department may also wish to try to duplicate the scenario since SWAT officers are generally seated on benches enroute to deployment since it would bite to drop a magazine just prior to deployment.

I've never liked extended mag releases on carry guns. I've even shaved stock releases down until I'm damn sure it can't be released by accident. What's more important, a fast mag change or being sure the mag doesn't drop out before the first shot is fired? To me the answer is obvious, but everyone has to make their own decisions.
