I've recentely been looking to buy a charging stock that fits into the mag well of a glock 17. It has come to my attention that this would make the pistol a short barrelled rifle and would require an BATF tax stamp. I don't plan on keeping the stock permantley on the pistol, but I assume the ATF considers owing both means owning an SBR. My question is --do I get the stamp first and then the stock, or stock then the stamp? Is the SBR definition a state deal or national? What are your thoughts/opinions on glocks with stocks? Those that have expierenced them, are they akward pointers?

What is the first step to getting a BATF tax stamp for a SBR?

Thanks

I've shot a G17 with "custom" stock... didn't really care for it. If you're just looking for a plinker, get the hi-point carbine. It will cost half of what you're planning to do, no stamp required and is more ergonomic IMO
