Bought an XD9 yesterday to replace my Glock19. Now I'm wondering if I made a mistake. While gun has grip safety which I like the grip is longer, slide is wider and XD is heavy. I may trade 19 for a 23 (for carry) and keep the XD as a house gun. Anybody carry an XD9?

I comfortably carry an XD40 (which is slightly larger) in an IWB FIST #1 holster. The only mistake you made was waiting this long to buy it! :D Give it a fair shake, and if you still don't like it, you sholdn't have trouble finding someone to take it off your hands.

I've owned 4 Glock 19's and just bought an XD-9 a month or so ago. The Springfield fits my hand well and the groups show it.I can't wait to get a proper holster and mag carrier. It will be in my EDC rotation.tom.

I am biased, as I really like the G19 as far as polymer guns go. I have checked out the XD from Springfield and just can't warm up to it. It has a slightly higher bore axisand even though my main gun is a 1911, I just don't like the way the XD is. It all boils down to personal preferrence. Shoot it, give it some time and see what you want to do.

I carry an XD9 sub and I am pleased with it. I don't have much experience with glock but I have rented many different models and shot friends glocks. I just don't seem to shoot them well. I am a 1911 guy from the very beginning so this may have something to do with the results I get with my XD. I get very good groups with my XD and would consider buying an additrional one in .40 or .45.

Did you not handle or see an XD-9 in person before you bought one? Did you buy it over the internet or something?

I carry an XD-9 subcompact daily. I'm comfortable with it. I like that the grip length is longer than the Glock subcompacts because I can just fit all my fingers on it. The barrel and slide is shorter than the Glock subs.

Good question. Spur of the moment purchase and I handled the gun. Traded the 19 for a 23 today. Total cost $75 which included a new factory mag marked "LEO". My 19 and the 23 both in 95% shape. So I'm gonna try carrying the XD or the 23, one or the other for a while.

The only thing the glock has over the xd is it's corrosion resistance. That, however, is enough to sway me away from xd. If they ever improve that, I will get another one.

The range I frequent has gone through a few XD's. The factory has been really good about replacing them but the down time is just not accepstable IMHO. The shop GLocks OTOH just keep going & going & going & going!
FOr this reason, I'd stick w/ Glock in this case.

I carry a Springfield XD 9 Subcompact everyday, everywhere. The stainless XD is fairly corrosion resistant. I love the Springy much better than my former Glock. Give it a shot or 1000.

I carry an XD40 pretty comfortably in a C-TAC. I prefer the ergonomics of the XD to the glocks. The only time I've ever seen any rust on my XD is once when camping when it was damp overnight, I think some condensation got on it. Haven't had a problem with the finish while carrying it normally.

I bought an XD-9 just for plinking, pin shoots etc.. After owning it for a few months I just liked the gun so much I have started carrying it. I have never had it fail and it just seems to shoot better for me than the glock 23 I used to carry.
