Glock30sf or Springfield xds

As a die-hard Glock fan, I'd say, go for the XDs. It is astounding considering the size of the thing and IMO would nearly be the perfect CCW. I want one but they are just too expensive and I am too busy trying to acquire other guns at this time and I can't justify needing to replace the Glock 23 I have been carrying since 1993.

There will be absolutely nothing wrong with the Glock either, especially if you want more rounds to play with. (10 vs 5). Personally, I would choose the new 30s over the SF.

I would choose the 30s also, but can't find one. The xds is cheaper than the Glock here but not by much. The capacity is a big issue for me,I guess I answered my question!

Personally, I would take a G30. A tad larger and heavier, but double the capacity in a gun that's still easy to conceal.

I like my XDs, pocket carry it every day. It's small enough when wearing slacks or cargo pants (jeans are a no-go for me) but big enough to shoot fairly effectively. It fits my hand pretty well. Recoil is hefty but manageable. Love the sights.

Downsides: I haven't actually heard of anyone wearing out a recoil spring assembly but it looks distressingly beat up after less than 500 rounds. Also, I had some initial trouble with stovepiping rounds while reloading with a full magazine and the slide closed. If I didn't really rack that sucker hard, it would stovepipe. No issues from slidelock. Whether because the pistol has loosened up a tad or I've just been made aware of the issue, I haven't had that problem after the first 100 rounds.

I'm not entirely sure why you are choosing between the XDs and the 30SF though. They aren't really comparable. The Glock 36 would seem the natural competitor to the XDs, while the 30SF's Springfield counterpart would be the XDm Compact.

I got the XDs. Shot it again yesterday. VERY accurate and has NEVER had a problem of ANY kind. VERY concealable-I usually carry it concealed with the short mag in it and a 7-rounder as extra.

I'm carrying 200 gain JHP's in it for 'social purposes' as they are easier to handle in recoil and fast shooting and are VERY accurate in the little thing.

Love mine! It will be with me today when I go out.

Got an XDs about a month ago and so far it is a gem ... I pretty much pocket carry exclusively, given the months of 100+ days here in Texas. MY EDC is a PM9, but I love the idea of a .45 small enough to fit in my pocket and when the XDs is broken in and has proven itself with my regular carry ammo --Hornady Critical Defense standard pressure -- it's going into the rotation with the Kahr ...

No experience with the XDs or that model of Glock. I've had both a Glock Model 22 and currently have two XDM's.

The Springfields are much nicer looking and feeling than the Glocks in my personal opinion and have better ergos. I got rid of the G22 years ago but wouldn't even consider getting rid of either of the XDM's. Like I said though I don't really know much about the compacts.

I'm looking for a 45acp. I have handled both and consider them both belt carry guns. Why should I buy the xds
I have never understood the xd line, except that somebody had to stand up to challenge Glock. It is one of many glock knockoffs, beginning but not ending with the S&W Sigma. The grip safety is a symbolic improvement, though a valid marketing proposition. Springfield, however, has shown much more flexibility than the famously aloof Glock in "listening to the customer". You want more redundant safeties? You want factory fiber optics? threaded muzzles? The XD is a great success in the consumer market. How many PD's switched? Not one vs not many. Last I checked Glock had more than half of US LE covered.

In summary, the XD may be a fine sports pistol, a hybrid clone, rightly priced just below The Glock, brought about by a US importer to capture a piece of the action on striker fired polymer framed semi autos. To me, you need a compelling reason to choose the XD. But we humans are not rational, including this writer. One more thing is the pride of ownership. Advantage: Glock.

Well, I own and shoot a 30sf......this gun has been refered to as the " Pocket Freight Train" by some......although I carry mine in an IWB Comp-Tac....I can say that 10 +1 rounds of .45acp is Serious Business......that's why I don't own an XD.

It's a great handling and shootin' pistol.....extremely reliable....and alot of fire power....

I've put over 2,000rds through my XDs so far. Functions flawlessly with any ammo you can get your hands on. It's also very small and much easier to carry than any of my other .45's. My wife likes it so much that I'm going to buy a second one for her.

I have them both and like them both. I would hate to have to pick one over the other. Both are very accurate. The 30SF does hide very well with the optional 9 round magazine. It all depends on how much extra “concealability” one needs versus the capacity that one gives up. The 30SF cannot fit into any of my jeans pockets under any circumstances while the XDs will, although it is not my first choice in pocket carry. One definite difference is that the XDs has been 100% reliable with everything I have fed it, but the Glock does not like 200 SWC handloads or weak ammo that feeds and functions great in the XDs. This is one of those rare questions where there really isn’t a bad choice as long as one understands the limitations of each system. (I have some 7 round magazines on order for the XDs, which could change the evalutaion, but I have no experience with them yet.)

Surely you jest. Glocks never malfunction!

But, seriously, while Glocks have a reputation for reliability, I only care that MY pistol is reliable. So far, my XDs is. It's also much better suited to my hands than the Glocks I've tried, and smaller than the Glock 36 to boot. I like the sights better. (The 36 does have one more round and is ever so slightly lighter, to be fair)

I'd want to know how I shoot with both of them....

Luckily, I already know how I do with the G30; so I'd just buy it. They shoot accurate and soft. The Gen 3 30SF is supposed to handle better than the prior Gen's; and the gen 4 version is said to be better.

I would have to pick the Glock 30SF or the new G30S...if it were for me. I love how the XD's feel in my hand but I just plain down right shoot Glocks better. That makes it an easy decision for me.

I say get an XD, that way there will be one more Glock out there for someone like me who would never consider getting an XD. :neener:

I really like my little XDs. I wrote up a review.

It's a preference thing. I like the XDs better, but I don't care for GLOCKS. All I can say is the XDs shoots well, is accurate, and carries IWB very nicely. Is it better than a GLOCK? For me it is. It may not be for you. It is my daily carry now. I carry an SP101 as well at times.

I have and carry a glock 36. Regardless of capacity, I still always carry an extra magazine.

After shooting my buddy's XDs last summer, I was amazed. I almost traded my G36 in for one that month... but, I held off on it.

I continued to carry the G36. Though I didn't get as good of groups with my pistol as I did with the XDs, it was still plenty accurate enough, absorbed the recoil enough, and most importantly was already paid for.

Recently though, I put an XDs on order from SA. Here's why: it's simply easier to carry, and truth be told the extra magazine is waaay thinner and thus easier to carry as well. The glock magazines, even the "singe-stack" 36 magazine, are simply bulkier than they need to be. So, if you're like me, you're carrying a thicker gun *and* a thicker magazine. It all adds up. I see the XDs relegating my Glock to truck-gun status.

Glock says all are built in Austria. Not that anything is wrong with it. Says on every slide though.

My 19 would like a word with you.
