Hi all.

I took the GOAL concealed carry seminar there used to be a course description on http://www.goal.org,. Since I can't find it on their website, here's a copy:

The GOAL Foundation Concealed Carry Seminar

The GOAL Foundation is holding a new 4-hour Concealed Handgun Seminar for individuals who either currently carry a concealed firearm or are considering firearms for self-defense. The course will be taught by Jon Green, GOAL's Director of Education and Training, and attorney Darius Arbabi, author of www.massagunlaw.com.

A Proven, Seasoned Instructor Team . . .
Jon Green and Darius Arbabi have taught together many times before with great success.
They are both NRA Counselors and team-teach the basic NRA Instructor course and many other NRA Instructor courses for the GOAL Foundation. They are both Massachusetts State Police Certified Instructors. Attorney Arbabi is one of the top firearms attorneys in New England and a sought after self-defense lawyer. Both are active shooters.

Topics Include:
• Lawful use of deadly force and its aftermath
• Concealment methods & other carry options for different environments
• Mace, pepper spray, Kubaton and other less than lethal force tools
• Role playing of deadly force scenarios

• Product overview: guns, holsters, ammunition and other essentials

• Training resources and references
• Question and answer period

Tuition is $40.00 for GOAL members and $75.00 for non-members. Course fee includes light refreshments, a Certificate of Completion, and product source handouts.
The course will be held at GOAL headquarters, 37 Pierce Street, Northboro, MA 01532 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 22 and Thursday, March 11.

Pre-registration is required. Call Jon Green at (508) 393-5333 or send an email to [email protected]. This will be a very popular event. Call now to reserve your seat.

My opinion of the class
The class was pretty good. There were about six students, and three empty seats (I think they were just no-shows).

All topics in the syllabus were covered. Only four hours were available, so we didn't get into extreme detail on any one topic. Instead, we hit every topic, questions were asked and answered, and information on where to get further training was provided. The main point of the class seemed to be to introduce the students to concealed carry, and to make us know what training is available, and that we should get as much training as possible.

The two major highlights of the course (for me) were the role-playing scenarios and the "where do we go next" information.

Several scenarios were presented (with blue guns, blue knives, and other assorted tools, and the students as the victims), I would have really liked more than we had. Of course, we only had four hours, so I understand not having many scenarios.

The "Where do we go next" information included many local classes, not all of which cost an arm and a leg to take (i.e. a kubotan course for $40, and a more advanced course (I forget the name of it) for $300).

Another nice part of the course that sticks out in my mind: holster selection. Jon and Darius had about 30 holsters that we could try on (with blue guns).

Sorry if I missed something - this is the first class report I've done :) If you've got any questions about the class, I'd be happy to respond.

atek3...

"how do you get a carry permit in taxachucetts?"

Apply for one at your city/town PD. Many Chiefs do not issue Licenses which allow concealed carry, but there is an increasing number that do. There are more of us able to carry concealed in the Commonwealth than one may suspect.
