I loaded up a few buckshot loads in 20 gauge a few weeks ago and tested them out today! the load was 50 grains of FFG, some homemade milk carton wads over the powder (I stacked several to form the wad) about 20 of my .24 caliber buckshot, and an over-shot card held in place with glue. I used a Winchester field load shell leftover from the brick I shot up a while ago. I didn't have any shotgun primers so I just made one out of a spent shotgun primer. I took out the brass backing and the anvil, hammered out the dent made by the firing pin, inserted a Remington #11 cap into the brass cup, put the anvil back in the body of the primer, then put the brass cup with the cap in it back into there and tapped it in place. It's cool to know how to reload shotgun primers!

I used the "Nail and dowel" method that Duelist1954 posted, It works rather well!

I shot it out of a Smith and Wesson 719-A pump shotgun, and I must say I'm impressed. Recoil was very light, they patterned decently well, and it didn't even hurt my .22 bullet trap I made when I opened up on that thing. Overall I shot 4 rounds, but I am thinking I need to buy some primers and make more of these blackpowder shells. I like them! I'll be getting a 12 gauge pretty soon, maybe a side-by-side and with blackpowder shells! That would be one sweet combo!

And of course I took the gun home and cleaned it well, this is cool! Why didn't you guys tell me about how cool this is sooner! :D

Well shoot that must be why! loading those shells in there, hearing the pump get racked when I chamber a round, hearing that nice boom when it goes off, watching the smoke clear to reveal my nice blown-up target, seeing the smoking shell fly out when I racked the pump to chamber another, the sweet smell of APP, It's all so pleasant and relaxed, there isn't the sharp recoil of smokeless, it's like shooting without recoil. I want to get more shot and load up 75 or so and head out to the gun club to bust some clays with them, I'll probably need to have someone tell me whether or not I hit it because of the smoke. With all that room I saved using that over powder card wads I could probably fit more shot in there. I'd love to do some more experimenting with this, Maybe I should get a 10 gauge and load blackpowder shells for that because the recoil is so pleasant, it most likely wouldn't be like shooting a 10 gauge.

It was just so relaxing and fun. I get the smoke and boom of blackpowder but don't have to take the time to reload between every shot. Now that was a delightful experience even though I only shot four rounds.

next time use real blackpowder ,then you willreally be impressed .wasn't any recoil because you were using app.if you cant find blackpowder use pyrodex rs
