For a long time now, I've awaited buying my first handgun. Now that I've finally gotten myself out of the cesspool known as New York, I can finally do that! Not sure on a carry gun, but my new place is fairly small and I wanted something quick to deploy for home defense. So a full-sized handgun it was.

Naturally I did a ton of research, but I've always been a "bang for your buck" kinda' guy. And also naturally, Hi-Point was kind of out of the question. The end result? I'm going for a Canik TP9SF. They're cheap, seem to be super-reliable, accurate and does everything I'd need it to do. Along with having some fun at the range of course. :)

Goin' for the desert tan. I never thought I would, but desert tan makes the TP9 look really cool in my opinion. A carry gun will be a decision for a different day, but this is looking to be my first HD/rangetoy handgun. Going to grab it within a couple weeks 'cause I'm totally swamped. Wish me luck. :)

Congrats on your successful escape from that East Coast nightmare known as New York! Let us know how things go with your new Canik TP9SF when you get it. And Good Luck in advance with your purchase!

That's actually a TP9v2 in your picture, but of course TP9SF looks very similar.

My only advice is get your hands on one and if possible shoot it (if you haven't already) before making a final choice. I agree the TP9SF is a solid gun and a good value. I found for my hand the fit was good but not great, but everyone's different. Good luck with your first pistol.

Yep, good luck with your purchase. You may decide you want something smaller in the future but I don't see why you couldn't carry it. A good purpose designed belt & holster are key though.

Congrats on both the move and purchase.

Being a TP9SA owner I can tell you they are great guns. Mine see's HD and occasional carry duty.

You should be well served for a full-sized HD gun.

PS, 20rd mags are available...
