Evening, gents. After having them checked over by a gunsmith in a fortnight, I will have eight or nine SMLE No. 1 Mk III's and one Mauser Karabiner 98k to test-fire (many, many times - what a chore :D). I was wondering if anyone had a good online source for some surplus ammo here in Australia? I intend to get a decent reloading operation happening in my garage at some stage but until that time I'd like to get in a few tins of both 8mm and .303 British to tide me over. I'm also looking for websites that will sell me cases and projectiles for both of these.

Lawrance Ordnance have some 8mm Turkish that looks alright at $AU40/100, but I've heard some less than rave reviews (mostly in my other thread about the 8mm ammo) about the Turkish ammo. As for the .303 British, I've heard the Pakistani stuff is quite dodgy and the Greek and South-African ammo is pretty good, though the reliability and impartiality of these sources is questionable. Any ideas?

I suppose what I'm after is an Australian website that will post to my PO box (can ammo be mailed to a PO box this way in Australia, or will it need to be sent to a local dealer or something? I'm still very new to this), take credit card, and sell me some quality, decently-priced .303 and 8mm, or case and projectiles for the same. If it's reloadable (ie. boxer primed), that's even better. Thanks, guys - I only have one gun shop locally and they charge over $1 per round for the .303 and they've no 8mm to speak of.

Thanks for the link, Bill. I can't believe I've never even come across this site before, lots of good info on there it seems.

Townsville, and thanks for the info - I have that issue and somehow failed to notice those ads.

The only real place to get ammo around here seems to private sale or the local Hall's Firearms, which unfortunately has very expensive .303 surplus (I'm more interested in the .303 at the moment than the 8mm, which can wait a bit). I'm going to have a bit of trouble getting ammo from anywhere that doesn't allow me to order online, too.

WOW...good .303 is tuff everywhere. I'm on a constant hunt for it as well, but I thought you guy's were just hording it down there:D

J&G has pakistanie JUNK; I dunno about Century. Be very careful of J&G we call them Gip and Gouge out here in AZ. They sell a lot of junk ammo. They also advertise loads of stuff they never have. Years of experiance with those Yo-Yo's and not one good one. They are the only Big Dealers Dealer in AZ.:barf:

I got 70 rnds for my 8mm Mauser mil-surplus for 9.00. Here in TN. I will called to see if they have a online order dept.

I bought S&B .303 from J&G. Century has PMP. I'm unwilling to buy .303 surplus, lest it be Pak or Indian junk, as you say.
