So myself, son and a friend hit the range yesterday, needed to test out a new to me K98 Mauser and 1903 Springfield. We had the .50's out and while shooting a guy asks what type of rifles we were shooting. After talking for a few minutes it turns out he was a scout master out with the troops shooting trap.

I asked if they would like to shoot the .50, that was like asking if they wanted a pile of chocolate. So we lined them up behind both guns and let them shoot away and gave them the brass. It was great to see the ear to ear smiles and all of them having a great time. The scout master offered us money but we told him that it was fine, as long as the kids had fun that was good enough.

Lucky kids, I never got to shoot anything that cool in scouts. Shoot, all we had were single shot .22s, a 20 gauge 870, and the rangemaster's Chinese SKS at our camp's range. It was funny, back then I thought that those 7.62x39 cartridges (didn't know what the gun or cartridge was at the time) looks huge, especially compared to the 22lrs I was shooting.
