Good idea/bad idea: Press-checking a Glock?

The extractor protrudes when a round is chambered--it can be felt or seen.

If that's not concrete enough for you, there's a small gap between the back of the barrel and the front of the extractor. If you hold the gun at the proper angle it's not at all difficult to look at this gap and see the glint of brass if a shell is chambered.

Still in doubt?

Drop the mag and look into the mag well. You can easily see the rim of the cartridge showing where the feedramp doesn't support the case.

You were going to drop the mag anyway, right? I mean it might have gotten unloaded when the chamber emptied itself. ;)
