Is the Wheeler Professional Laser Bore Sighter 589922 Green a good sighter. Say much better than a sight*Mark Sightmark Triple Duty Universal Laser Bore Sight ? I just the Wheeler just want to know if it was money well spent. I have the Sight*Mark Red.

It seems very expensive when the compact ones that align to the barrel crown always get me on paper.

I mount 10-15 scopes a week. On bolt action, lever action and non AR semi's I use an Arbor Bore Sighter normally. Occasionally one of the aforementioned rifles will have a muzzle device that disallows use of an arbor sighter. For those cases and for ARs and shotguns I use the Wheeler green laser. For my needs it is easily worth the money.

I also believe the cost differential is warranted over any Sightmark I've used.

I've never found ANY bore sight tool that saved me one round of ammo or one minute of my time when zeroing a bolt rifle. With any other rifle it MIGHT save me 1 round. I'm typically perfectly zeroed at 100 yards in 2-3 shots with a bolt gun, no more than 3-4 with any other rifle. If you own a gun shop or are a gun smith I could see spending the money and offering the service to customers. But as an individual you'll never save enough ammo or time to come close to paying for any of them.

Echoing was was mentioned above. The wheeler is a nice unit and in a former life sold a good amount of them. I have the Sightmark green boresighter that is the OPMOD version, and the Wheeler, both work very well.

They do come in handy if you're sighting in a few rifles at a range session. Also nice for right after you mount a scope you can go outside and get the scope near dialed in right then and there. I'll line up on a tree about 50-75 yards away, make adjustments, done. Ready to go when I sit at a bench and just the last fine tuning needed.

I use a Bass Pro "Redhead" bore sighting collimator. Some care must be taken to align the collimator correctly and level. It has always gotten me on paper at 50 yards with any of my rifles. From there, some arithmetic and a good rest allowed me to sight in any rifle with another 6-8 rounds at 100 yards. I use my chrony and a ballistics program on my iPhone to sight in for a 200 yard zero for my hunting rifles and a 100-yard zero for my precision rifles. There's no magic to this...the need is to get on paper at 50 yards. Use what works for you.
