I started reloading for the .303 several months ago. I have tried H335 and 4064. I've had good luck with both, but if anyone knows of a powder that will yeild higher velocity at a lower pressure please let me know as I don't want to beat the old girl to death.

I like the h4895, Imr 4064. They both shot to the same POI and 5 shot 3'' groups. BLC-2 shows the highest vel with lowest pressure on Hodgdons web site. Whats your most accurate load so far.

Between IMR-4198,4064,4320 & Varget ,Reloader #15 these is only about 1 Gr. difference between max loads and between them all less than 100 fps. MV difference thats using the Hornady 174 Gr. RN in .312 dia. the thing is is to find the one that shoots the most accurately in your rifle.

Thanks for ya'lls input. So far I've had the best luck with 150 speer sp with a medium load of imr4064 (I have the charge written down, but can't access it at the momemt). At 50 yds. I was getting an honest 1" group, and at 100 it opened to a little less than 3". I guess that's all I can expect from a jungle carbine made in 1945 - I'm really happy with the way it shoots now. When I first got it accuracy was horrible with factory loads and the bbl. was dirty as heck. Took some J & B paste and cleaned the heck out of it.

My old No.4 likes the Hornady 174 FMJBT with around 40-41gr. Varget. The same holds true for the Sierra 180 spire point.
My gun needs the longest possible cartidge length to feed decently, so I tend towards the heavier bullets.
Winchester 748 also did fine but I was always running out when I was doing .223 so I changed the .303 to Varget.
It's a way of tricking myself.

Hornady 174gr FMJ/BT over 32 gr of H-4895, OAL 2.950, virgin brass, CCI large rifle standard primers, FCD used, does very well in my 1943 Enfield No4Mk1*.

303 loads

I have good success with H4895,IMR 4895, BLC-2, IMR 4064, IMR 4350 with the heavy bullets like the 215 grainer.
I have also loaded some .308 diameter bullets in my jungle carbine and get accuracy as good as the 311 or 312 diameter,I guess it's what diameter your bore is.
