homeland security pistol by Massad Ayoob, Issue #83 Backwoods Home Magazine 2003. This is an interesting read. The article gives a rundown of the early years leading to the adoption by the Army of the JMB's 1911 design Colt pistol and it's subsequent modifications after WWI. Mr. Ayoob is a proponent of the .45ACP as many of us are. If you want to stop an assailant with one round....the .45 auto is your tool. From trench warfare to home defense there is no better handgun.

I figured this 45 ACP/1911 business out on my own. 850 fps, good enough. 230 gr bullet, good enough. 7 round mag, good enough. Used for 100 years through 4 wars, good enough. No sense reinventing the wheel.
