So I went to the range today and I brought my AR-15 and my newly acquired Century AK-47. After hearing all of the badmouthing of Century that goes on, I was a little worried, however I was confident in the gun that I got.

I'd never shot an AK before today, and after shooting both of them, I am torn as to which I like better. The AR, IMO, is way more practical as an HD gun. The AK was a blast to shoot though. It seemed to be very accurate. I only shot it at 25 yards. I shot a full 30 rd clip to center mass, and a full 30 rd clip to the head. The only shots not either in center mass or the head were two that a buddy shot that were just outside center mass, and my first head shot was just outside the head.

I've been trying to decide what my next gun will be. Probably another AK or another AR. I think I'll have to take both to the range some more to figure it out though.

I'm really glad that you like your new toys, but 25 yards is no measure of accuracy. Stretch that out to 200 or 300 yards and you'll start seeing the difference. Heck, depending on the kind of shooter that you are, you may see the difference at 100 yards shooting off hand.

Still, I had lots of fun with my AKs when I still adhered to the misconception about the reliability, or lack thereof, of the AR platform.

Enjoy your toys.

If you can find the x39 Hotshot ammo, I chrone'd some of that stuff a couple years back and of 5 rounds 3 were the exact same velocity over the CED chronograph, and the other two were within 20 feet per second through a Romanian "G" rifle. The young man shooting that rifle was able to keep 5 shots in 8 inches at 440 yards.

I thought that was pretty good considering...

the range was only 25 yds, so unfortunately, couldn't shoot any further than that. I'm oing to a different range here in a few weeks, and I'll be testing it out to 200. Hopefully with somewhat decent results. My mai concern was that it would hit where I was aiming. One of the biggest problems I'd heard with centuy aks was the front sight can be canted. Luckily it didn't affect my shots at close range.
