No, I didn't think so. It sounds very noble and dignified to say that one will here on THR, but IRL when you know that there is nothing in your car and if you jsut let him search it he will go his merry way in 5 mins... versus a possible 3 hour detainment...

It only emboldens them, not necessarily in a good thing.

In Michigan the field sobriety test is voluntary... but if you don't take it, your car can be seized and searched and your liscence can be suspended. But its still voluntary

Well, that's your opinion and you're certainly entitled to it.

My opinion is I am an honest citizen, why the h*** are you harassing me.

And yes, I have refused searches and I have asked police to remove themselves from my property since they did'nt have a warrant. They came back enmasse without a warrant so I just videotaped them as I asked them(politely) to remove themselves, which they did. (don't tick off the council in a small town)

Sorry the BOR is there to protect innocents, not criminals.

You guys seem to have a negative point of view regarding the police. I don’t. If you don’t want to grant a search of your car or home to the police then don’t. You certainly have that right. Maybe if I walked in your shoes my views would be different.
