Guns have hit center stage locally, on all the news stations, billboards around town, print (newspaper), etc.

Backed by these guys at Riverside church:

I'm not sure if these are the same folks who orchestrated the infamous "bring us your illegal crime gun" anonymous buy-back programs, but it's probably a safe bet. (They complained last year because so many people brought in junk guns, BB guns, airsoft guns, etc, for $100 debit cards)

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Tate Chambers:

"We have to love these gangsters," Chambers said. "We all have to love these gangsters, and make them feel like part of this community."

Now, this is a revision of "Operation Ceasefire" - an old campaign that I'm not altogether familiar with.

Has anyone out there any experience with Operation Ceasefire?

The Peoria Mayor is sending me a mixed signal - maybe I don't understand the message, but on one hand he advocates making Peoria a test-bed for concealed carry in Illinois, then agrees to plaster "Don't Shoot" billboards all over town and in the media.

Not sure I'm understanding what the message is here; on the surface it seems strongly anti-gun. Maybe I'm just reading in to it wrong?!

Some limited information on Operation Ceasefire.

Short of spending money on this Kennedy guy's book (which I'm hesitant to do if that money would just fuel the anti-gun movement).. figured someone here might have been familiar with the old Operation Ceasefire program, it's implications, and if there are any ties to anti-gun movements.

I think I've heard this one before; "We are the World, We are the Children...." Join hands everyone together and sing! They don't want to be gangsters, it is that they don't feel LOVED enough that they're gangsters.

I probably have the gangsters to thank for the K-Mart cashier asking me my birthdate (I'm 50...something) because I was buying a razor-edged scraper. She didn't want my age, she entered my BIRTHDATE into the computer. Love them? Right.

Chambers probably would have said the same thing about the Nazi's. (invoking Godwin's law).

Yup - trying to make Hitler feel a part of the "International Community" worked out well for Chamberlain and everyone else as well.

These clowns deliberately, gleefully and celebratedly place themselves outside of the very communities which they infect.

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God" Mayhap, but are they really helping their neighbors out?

As far as "Gun Crime Destroys Communities" NO & NO! It's is and always has been tolerance of miscreant behavior. There are a great many "communities" which have been destroyed of late by the use of; narcotics, machetes, box cutters, whatever. It aint the gun!

"... have to love..." Those three words alone give great insight into his perspective.

Trent, call your local used book resellers. Offer to trade a few old books you haven't read in years for this tome. Read, discard.

Yeah I think I'm going to need to read the damn book. I don't WANT to.

To rectify my karma, after I'm done I'll use it to start a campfire out back to melt down wheel weights in to lead ingots so I can make BOOLITS. Let the seeds it plants in my brain be turned towards a more productive end. :)

Love those who murder, rape, steal, and sell drugs....

Not bloody likely!

Gangs are like an incurable cancer...it must be killed or removed.

looks like the gangs have the puppet community leaders right where they want them....
