GP100 springs in 78’ Ruger Security Six?

will the mainsprings interchange? Going a bit lighter, 10-11lbs, than the 12+ that show up at auction sites now and again, thanks.

Yup!. Put a 9 lb mainspring in my Speed Six and it worked. It had been tuned previously by 10 Ring. Saw the tip on one of the Ruger Forums. The Woff spring kit for the Six Series has a 14 lb mainspring so this was a work around.

Thanks, was hoping so. I have run down to 9lb in other later Ruger revolvers, incl Gp100, sp101, etc., with no lightstrikes on hard primers. 8lb was a no go however.

I have two security six guns, one made in 1972 first year run and an 1986 model and put left over Wolfe GP-100 springs in them and man o man what a difference it made. Go for it. it works.
