If you look on page 49, there's a picture of a "Card knife". The FBI lists the manufacturer as "unknown, and there's a large, visible "Microtech" logo on the blade.

MANUFACTURER:
UNKNOWN
MADE IN USA
COMPOSITION:
PLASTIC AND
METAL

It says right on the blade "MICROTECH"

Bright people we have in our government. :banghead:

Am I missing the joke or did they just provide a shopping list of things metal detectors won't pick up to anyone interested in smuggling a weapon on an airplane?

Could you imagine the irony if an Islamic extremist attacked you with...

a crucifix knife?

a NASCAR Helmet knife?

Or trying to sneak a knife on by disguising it as a handgun, rifle or shotgun cartridge??? "Gee officer, I'd never try to sneak a knife onboard. All I have is this ammo here!"

And how could you SERIOUSLY hurt someone with the ring knife?

gee, i wonder if you could get aboard with an audio CD
a little yin/yang pre-scored action and you have 2 sharp claws RTG

And if you have a Windows install CD to break, you can have an improvised Morgul blade. :D

CDs are harder to break than you might think, and sometimes they just shatter.

The point of this lesson is, if someone wants to bring sharp objects on an airplane they can. But has a plane ever been highjacked with any of these?

My favorite is the carbon fiber knife, I want to try and make one out of my old R/C car chassis...

Mosly junk.

And to think that while traveling with a group of soldiers we had to break off the file from our finger nail clippers or leave them behind. God only knows the havoc we could have created with a fingernail file:cuss:

All of this stuff is like closing the barn door after the horses have escaped.

You must keep your enemy at a distance. Don't let him in the country in the first place is a much better idea than to worry about a plastic knife on a plain!

Most of that stuff I can buy in the local gas stations here in Arkansas. I like the X-ray images. Now we all know what they look like . I will remember that if I see a .38 special shell that says 30.06 spring on it that it is really a knife. I've always wondered if someone could just sharpen one edge of a carkey and have a knife. No need to have a fake knife/key.
