From previous threads on this subject, I thought some of you might enjoy this.

News article on the local Phoenix TV station about a scheduled Gun Buy Back in Tucson, AZ on Tuesday 1/8/13. A couple of individuals were interviewed who plan on locating themselves outside the buy back location offering to purchase peoples' firearms for more than the $50 gift certificate. In an interview with the police chief, he indicated that the police WILL NOT interfere with those "Private sales."

It might backfire unless you have someone with NCIC or State level LEO database access to check for stolen guns. Then you would be out the money paid, but at least you get $50 back.

I am all for gun buy backs. Remember: this is for the children.

We should all be buying up every gun we can get our hands on that costs less than these events are paying, and using the profits to take a kid to the range.

Unrepairable wall hangers? Kabooms? Hell, the one in SFO was paying $200 -- there are guns available NEW in that range, aren't there? You'd be supporting the local gun shops, the manufacturers, etc -- and if they weren't using your tax dollars for this, they'd probably be funding something even more unpleasant.

Now, we just need to convince them to do an AMMO buyback, at something like 25-50% of retail. I mean, there's no OTHER way that it would be legal to sell off all those cast lead reloads for a profit, right?

you know, i almost wish there is one here locally so i can stand by the line and eye out any hidden gems and pay $100 for them :D

There is no law in AZ that prohibits private firearms transactions between citizens of the state of AZ. If the police were to arrest or otherwise obstruct a perfectly legal transaction, they would be in for a heck of a legal black eye and probably a lawsuit, too. We take our freedom seriously here in AZ.

Besides, there are darn few anti-gun LEO's in AZ.

I am curious to see who wants to give their guns away for a $50. gift card? You never know, there are suckers born every day.

After spending four years stationed at Ft. Huachuca you're absolutely right. A gun buy back in that area is nothing more than a bad joke.

I LOVE buy backs... had a bud stayin with me a few years back and heard of a 100.00 food card or tennis shoes buy back. I figured I would turn the 3 junkers I had that needed parts or were of no value other than a wallhanger into meat. I took them to the buy back and when in line I heard them ask the ones in front of me do ya want the food gift card or the gift card to the big name sporting goods store... I could not keep a straight face as I got my three sporting goods cards... on the way home I stopped at their gun department and got a savage 17hmr with a thumbhole stock/heavy barrel and a scope for the three hundred ON SALE ... I had been wanting to try the 17 for a while but other stuff kept coming up first... I love that lil accurate groundhog slayer and laugh ever time I look at it...

No work today, that means I'll be busy on Tuesday. That law that Blackrock posted just removed my disappointment though, that's EXACTLY what should happen to good tools with bad homes. Do we kill pets that come from abusive homes that are otherwise healthy ? No. We clean them up and find them good homes.

I still hope a bunch of people show up and buy a pile of rare and demonized firearms.

Albuquerque NM has a no questions asked turn in policy on every Saturday this month. No money paid, yesterday they had 45 guns turned in, two gun stores in town have offered to buy or take on consignment, any guns you no longer want, or just want to get rid of. The gun stores got more action. The guns shown on tv were absolute junk from the looks of them.

I have a 'high cap' squirt gun that I'm going to paint black and glue a big clip to the bottom of. The local politician who is sponsoring this won't know the difference and we'll all be safer!
