I'm getting ready to look for a new dog, as mine is getting on in years, and was thinking I'd like to give him/her a gun related name.
What gun related name have you given to your pet(s)? :)

When I was growing up, we adopted a pair of sibling golden retrievers that came pre-named as Smith & Wesson. My brother has a dog named Ruger. I've known people with dogs named Bullet and Colt.

That said, Sam is the best name a dog can have.

What kind of dog are you going to get? I think that matters when naming as well...Or at least what size.:)

I kind of like the name Mosin(except pronounce it mow-sin)

I have a miniature pincher named Barret:D He thinks he is as big as my Doberman named Max.....haha

I got my german short haired pointer from a couple that went a little pet and bird dog crazy when they had a toddler and an infant. Really nice couple that was a little overwhelmed by all the animals (3 dogs, 6 cats and several large birds, IIRC) and kids in a bungalow.

Their weimeramer (sp?) was named "Parker" and his best buddy (now our family pet:banghead:) is named "Hale". Really nice dog, just a knucklehead who runs, and runs and runs, and runs, everywhere......

When I was a kid, I had a beagle named Bullet. Now I have a lab-retriever mix named Sam, after Sam Colt. I have another black lab-mix named Hank, after the series of children's' books titled "Hank the Cowdog, Head of Ranch Security" .

I few months ago, I brought home a stray yellow lab. I named him Ranger. After a trip to the vet, we found out he had a real bad case of heart worms and had to be put down. :(

I had a catahoula named "Magnum". I think it's one of the best gun names.

Lapua
Dillon
Krag
Ought-six
Hornet
Bee
Jelly (jelly bryce, gun fighter)
Spitzer
Deuce
Hornady
Speer
Talon (black talon)
Mauser
Garand
Browning
Bess (Brown Bess--British musket)
Savage
Marlin

Im with bazookajoe I want to name a dog mosin also. I think it needs to be a boy dog though. Maybe a schnauser named mauser, sorry if i spell schnauser wrong. :D

I really like the name stoner too, but unless your neighbors are gun enthusiests they may give you weird looks.:)

Hoppes would be a good name...People could also think you just really like beer too. :D

I like the name "shooter" myself

Or how about Barrett?

You didn't say what kind of dog you're thinking of getting, the breed of dog could help us give you the appropriate name.

I am morally against it.

A dog named Bullet almost killed Stephen King. It was distracting the idiot driving the van. The same idiot had another dog named pistol.

Anything that nearly kills the greatest author of all time is automatically on my black-list!
