thought some of you might be interested in a range report from a fairly large gun show in major metro area......valley forge, pa, outside of philadelphia. if for nothing else, as an indication of the state of things....availability, prices in comparison to the one 4 months ago.

-in general, less booths and less guns than 4 months ago at the same place, though it was still packed with people.

-ammo prices appeared to be pretty much the same all around. lots of new manufacture/cases, noticeably less surplus. plenty of 7.62x39

-4 months ago the place was flooded with romanian aks. today there was not a single wasr for sale, literally.....go figure. prices on other aks i would say went up an average of 15%

-fewer "affordable" american semi-auto longarms(ruger, hi-point, keltec)

-loads of garands and m1 carbines, as usual, though i didn't see a single new manufacture m1 carbine, which i actually had my eyes peeled for(auto ordnance specifically).

-normal compliment of shotguns, hunting rifles and handguns

-most notable difference.....last time, the place was drowning in cosmoline-soaked yugos. i counted less than ten yugos in the whole place. they looked awful, and the lowest-priced one was $269:eek::eek::eek: one guy had 6 for $275 each and was telling people they were 'unissued'. he was lying...they looked like they had been run over by a bus. i couldn't believe the prices these guns. this is close to a 100% price increase from 4 months ago. i counted two russian and three norincos(the best of which i grabbed:)). keep in mind, i was able to browse and count these in a large convention hall that was so filled with skss 4 months ago, i wouldn't have even tried.

not a bad show. humble conclusions in regard to my own interests........commie semi-autos.....buy them now before prices become just silly, and hold on to them. i would surmise that the supply really is beginning to dry up.
