I saw the most AR-15's yet at this show, every table that had guns, had at least 6 on the table. Prices weren't bad either, $550-$700.

I scored a 500 round brick of Remington Thunderbolt for $25, I know its not the best ammo out there, but that was a steal.

Found a table full of powder and primers, scored some SRM for 26 bucks and a pound of Longshot for 26 bucks.

There was a PSA AR-15, identical to the one I built over Memorial Day, for $689 + tax. I put mine together for $470, out the door.

It was a pretty good show and so far, the prices haven't been jacked up yet.

I still stand by my oft-repeated prediction that we never see anything like the prices and shortages we saw in the panics of '08-09 and since. Too many people got burned on the last ones, and everybody and his brother has been stocking up on mags, ammo, lowers, and rifles, in the hope of making a killing around election time. I believe all the companies that got caught with their shorts down have learned their lesson and have also prepared.
Plus, both the used and retail markets are currently flooded, while money seems to be steadily getting tighter.
I could be mistaken, but I bet I ain't.

(by the way, we have a show going on this weekend, and i was tempted to just go walk around today (since i don't need anything), but I'd rather wait a month for the (typically better) Eastmann show next month, and even then, I've been so disappointed in them for about a decade now, that I still may not bother.)

I'd still hit up a gun show if I had nothing else going. Problem is I'm always tied up with something these days.

Interesting theory on the impact of the '08 panic. I too am not seeing a rush to buy like before.

I always enjoy the gun shows, even if I don’t buy anything. But they seem to be getting scarce in my area for some reason. Five years ago I would have 4 or 5 a year in my local. This year there’s only two.

I went to the one in St. Louis yesterday and saw a lot of ARs at great prices, as well. I still saw Thunderbolt bulk packs for $45/$50, but it was flooded with ARs. I made out with two used German mags fir my Sig 229 for $44, an American flag patch for my EDC bag, and a GREAT time with my 7 year old as I took him to his first gun show. We talked about how he doesn't pick up anything until I'm there, etc. Basically I'd pick it up and he would touch it. I was asking him to point out a revolver on the table, then a semi auto, etc. I'm always going through safety with him, and we had a great time.

Actually I use to find that gun shows during the summer were pretty decent for the buyer. Low attendance (folks on vacation or else working around the house), usually meant fewer buyers (plus less competition if you and a couple of other guys were looking at the same gun), and sellers a little more willing to deal in order to make a sale. It also made getting around to all the tables a lot faster and easier too!

I haven't bought a gun for three years. I've been reloading, adding extra components and just having feeding the little beasts that are in the safe.

My normal Christmas and birthday gifts are often in the form of gift certificates...from local gun/shooting supply shops. I try to only get items that don't get used up...will last a long time. So,last week I picked three mags for the AR.

Locally, there will be a gun show in two weeks. I'll go with my shooting buddy just to see how things are...and maybe find that one or two things we shooters always "need". :D
