Anyone heard when the Gun Talk website will be up and running again?
www.guntalk.com

I used to listen to the streaming audio because I am not able to catch the show live.

BTW can't wait for the new self defence show on the Outdoor Channel.

Looks like Tom has moved on to TV instead. We don't get more than half the radio program here, the website has been down for what seems like months, and his email bounces back. Oh well....:(

I'm still here

Hardly that I have moved on to TV. "Tom Gresham's Gun Talk" radio show is bigger than ever, having been picked up by XM satellite radio this year. (It's on channel 166 on XM.) It's also on Sirius satellite radio (when they don't pre-empt it for NFL).

We are working on a redesign of the web site, forced by having to ditch the hosting company. I had someone doing a new design, and it took so long that I fired him last week and we are starting over. That cost at least six weeks. The plan is to have the new site up by the end of October.

In the meantime, we have re-created the archives of the show, and added RSS coding for podcasting. Now, anyone with a computer can download the MP3 audio files of the show. Those are currently available at www.guntalk.com.

Frankly, I hate it that I need to have a web site at all. It's a pain, and I'll spend enough on it to have purchased a double rifle!

So . . . look for the new site to be up in a few weeks.

Tom, Sir,

it is always good to have a pro-gunner still around. Someone has to fill the gap taht Col. Jeff Cooper left...

May he rest in peace, he gave us all a lot of stuff to think about. He'll be not forgotten...

Hey Tom, Hows come you are not on G&A TV anymore and what is with the airplane show....you aren't allowed to have another hobby! :neener:

Tom,
I am the the ticked off Sirius radio listener who emailed you this week about the Sirius preemption. I now have to catch you on streaming audio on the net until I dump Sirius and pick up 4 new XM radios. So I know what you mean about your expense equalling the cost of another gun. :)

Anyone who wants to hear all 3 hours of Tom's show I reccommend you pick up XM. I am currently on a letter writing campaign with programing director of talk radio at Sirius and I will keep everyone posted if I get any positive results.

Re: G&A TV . . . the folks at Primedia asked me to shift over to Petersen's Hunting Adventures (TV show) to help get it going, and I'm doing the PDTV for Primedia, also. To tell the truth, PDTV is more fun than G&A, but don't tell 'em I said that!

"Wings To Adventure" is the aviation show, and it just proves that I like things that are loud -- guns and airplanes.

"Frankly, I hate it that I need to have a web site at all. It's a pain, and I'll spend enough on it to have purchased a double rifle!"

Its funny how gun guys put everything into gunperspective (one word).

Heck man that new house cost me 20 transferable M-16's!

Tom, I wanted to let you know that I miss you on G&A TV too, glad to hear about your other projects. Keep up the good work, I always enjoy your take on things.

Well, you could let the G&A folks know. <grin>

Seriously, I work on four TV series now, plus the radio show. I was flying to a video shoot the other day and saw a Bonanza pass me in the other direction, and . . . it was ME!

Tom,
It looks like we share the same hobbies. I am based a WBW. What do you have a straight or V tail?

THPA --

I fly a turbonormalized A36. I put 375 hours on it in the last 12 months. Next week I leave on a strange trip. From home base in Louisiana, I head to Oshkosh, WI. Then to Westchester County (HPN) in White Plains, NY. Then to Prescott, AZ, for a week at Gunsite. Then back to Louisiana.

About 4200 miles in the Bonanza. It does about 200 KTAS in the high teens. Enough payload to carry LOTS of stuff. I think of it as a 230mph SUV!

Tom well you out gunned me on this one I just have a humble C172 at 105KTAS(at best) and my burn is 8GPH. I have you beat on the fuel burn. :)

I dont recall what engine the A36 has but off the top of my head I beleive a Lycoming IO-540 so my guess is about 15-17 gallons per hour at altitude.

Well on that trip you will be passing over my area if you feel inerested in stopping at WBW or need to fuel up in this area please PM me so I can give you my contact info I'd live to grab lunch with you and as you know almost every airport has a great $100.00 burger near by. WBW had the Colonial Reaturant across the street. Hell I am good friends with the FBO management and I bet they would love to get you up in their vintage Boeing Stearman.

At WBW we are paved 7 and 25, light(pilot controled on unicom), vasi, unicom 122.8, length 3376 elevation 540' TPA 1500 left hand pattern, plenty of airport of an A36.

See the private reply. I sure appreciate the invitation.

Another thing about flying a private plane is that you can carry all the guns your plane will legally hold! And carry knives, and wear shoes, and joke about bombs, and . . . .

I know, it's not for everyone, but you can buy a car for less than a decked-out 4WD pickup.

There is, in short, a lot of freedom in owning/flying a private plane.

Well . . . actually, Sirius has carried Gun Talk for two years or more. It's on channel 144, Sirius Right. It is live, at 2:00pm Eastern, on Sundays.

Unfortunately, Sirius sometimes pre-empts the show for NFL games in the fall.

XM carries "Gun Talk" on channel 166. XM delays the broadcast and begins at 5:00pm Eastern, Sundays.

You can also download the MP3 files from the Gun Talk web site.

I have never got to hear it but 2pm eastern I am sitting at my desk at work.DARNIT! Thank you though I will try and listen from my desk but they are getting testy about the bandwidth.

yeahhhhh I found it its on sundays though damn best day for me to catch it though.

Wow. My POS helicopter goes 145Kt (160 if almost out of gas), and that is with all 3400hp being dumped into it...

And I was lucky to get 210 hours this year.

I really need my own plane... And to figure out a way to get "Uncle" to pay for it..
