So at the gun show Saturday I stopped to talk to a friend running one of the knife tables, and all of a sudden he points out his latest acquisition in the case. Mixed among the antique and beat up knives he pulls out this little gem. 20180124_085830.jpg
I was really surprised because I've been looking for a little 22, and this H&R 622 is exactly it! 20180124_085801.jpg
So I asked him if it was for sale, and he said "maybe"... So after a few minutes of haggling I walked away with the 622 and a few knife projects for some trading stock I brought to the show.

She's a sweet little revolver, tight action, and not too beat up. So yeah, I'm happy!

First 22 revolver a bought 17 years ago was a 622 with a 4 inch barrel. Wish I still had it, great tackle box and woods gun.

Very nice.

Do have a 922 that I keep as a plinker in the car....

The H&R 622 and 922 are probably going to be the last good value .22 revolvers with a double action. Congrats, I've always thought the snub H&R solid frame revolvers were pretty good guns for the money.

I really like the look of those little H&R revolvers. Range report?

My grandpa keeps one of those handy. Shoots very consistently but not to POA. Could be adjusted with a file and a wrench, but he shoots it really well naturally.

My 32 mag shot a couple of inches to the left. I had a couple other people shoot it to make sure it wasn't just me. The elevation was fine. So I very carefully widened the rear sight notch on the right side until it was hitting point of aim. Then I used touch up blue where I worked on it. It shot good after that. I had to do the same thing on a Taurus model 80 38 Special that also shot left. Its an easy fix if you take your time.

Nice find! I am ignorant...how old is it?

The original H&R went bust in...1985 I think? So it's older than that. I worked in a gun store for the later half of the 70's and we sold boat loads of those H&R revolvers. Mostly .22's but they made the same gun in .32 S&W. They also made a version with a swing out cylinder. But the solid frame .22's in both barrel lengths were the most popular. Yes you had to pull the cylinder to reload but most folks who buy these aren't looking to run through 1,000 rounds.

Really a good solid gun., if somewhat unrefined. But we never got any back. As I recall the .22's sold for $50? around 1975.

Wishoot

IMO, it was more of a SA revolver. To shoot that thing in DA took the strength of Superman.

I found one much like the OP's H&R Model 622, like new in the box, and was thinking about getting it for my wife's first handgun. Then I tried the double action trigger pull and decided against it. Luckily I had a friend who worked behind the counter at the local gun shop and he had set aside for my a LNIB S&W Model 34 with a 4" barrel that was just perfect (along with the addition of a Hogue Monogrip), for my wife.

Oddly enough I have a 622 with a 4 inch barrel and a 922 with a 7 inch barrel. The DA trigger will get better with use but it's not bad for the price point. Both mine are from the 60's according to the SN. I use a recycled chop stick to push the used brass out.

Well I got out between rain storms today and ran a cylinder worth of ammo through it. No pictures, but it hit where i was aiming at three little plasic bottles, and grouped three shots in about 2" at 15 yards. Perfect for a camp gun, and fun to shoot!

Awesome find. Those are great little revolvers, and it is still possible to find them at reasonable prices.

I had 2 of those pull pin H&R's, a 622 and a 922 both with 4" barrels. Now I have a 922 and my youngest daughter has a 622..........:)

Funny, I didn't think H&R handguns knew how to drive cars, let alone follow you home. Funny, I had the exact same pistol when I was stationed in Montgomery AL back in the 80's. Oh the fun I had with that little handgun. It is sweet when you find something you want for the price you want it for. Enjoy it.

I am enjoying it. It hopped in my backpack and came home with me, so maybe it just rode home with me... My 12 yr old daughter really wants this one...

My first handgun was a 622, I think it had a four inch barrel. I saved my allowance and paid $29 for it brand new. I traded it in a few years later on a Ruger Standard Model, so I now longer have it. Good find!
