I have been reading through Modern Reloading and I notice that in the back where they list the load data, that they don't mention the test barrel lengths for the different calibers. I supposed that they use 4 inch barrels for calibers like .40S&W, and 9mm, 5 inchers for .45acp and 10mm, but what about the various revolver loads ?

The data comes from multiple sources and barrel lenghts. It is compiled from the various powder and bullet manufactures old data and probably was developed for the most part in univesal recievers and either vented test barrels for pistol cartridges or 26" for rifles. If you need a velocity estimate, try comparing loads with the powder manufactures data you find on line and see what lenght they used in their testing.
