Has anyone actually fired the KelTec RDB Survival?

Try to keep it in context for pizza sake, it's by far the cheapest rifle in its class/category.

Keltec alphabet
RDB = Rifle; Downward ejecting; Bullpup.
differentiating from the
RFB = Rifle; Forward ejecting; Bullpup.

Was a pretty through review on the RDB on InRange, and southpaw Ian approving of the ergo on it. (The mud test was not so good, though.)
It's competing with the Tavor, which also has a love-hate relationship in the shooting world. Tavor is easily twice the MSRP (or drive-away), and has more ergo issues.

Since both the RFB and RDB are avilable in both .223 and .308; the "Survival" moniker is for the 7.62x39 (IIRC); and to sell a couple more in a tight market.

Would I take one to a three-gun? No; but I'd never try a 3-gun with anything in 7.62 caliber. Two-gun, maybe. But, even there you'd be at a scoring disadvantage to al lthe 5.56 shooters.

I figure there has to be at least one in the wild by now.

Yes, but just one.

Seriously, though, I'm only half kidding. There's actually two on Gunbroker.

The lack of production keeps them too scarce and expensive for anyone to shoot one.

Ask again in 5 years.

Ummmm.....unless you're privy to info none of the rest of us have, KT doesn't have a 7.62x39 anything, nor was there a prototype at SHOT, nor have I even heard chatter of them developing such a critter.

The Survival version is just a slimmer profile & lighter weight variant of the 5.56mm RDB-C.

Weren't they just, just released? I'd give it a few more months at least.

Never materialized.

If they could make 7.62x39, 6.5 or even 6.8 versions that would be pretty neat.

Yeah neat if they actually work.

LGS has sold a few Kel-Tec bull pups. A large number of them have then had to go back to Kel-Tec more than once in order to be made functional.

As far as I can tell if I had a choice between defending myself throwing flaming garbage at a threat, or using a Kel-Tec product out of the box I might just go with flaming garbage.

Yeah it seems that auto spell on my phone loves to change spelling on some things.

Sigh.

In order to edit my post the stupid iPhone went through Kel-Tek, and Kel-Tex as preferred spellings.

I blame Steve Jobs for all my spelling errors now.

Never materialized.

But If it did, It must have wood grain furniture to shoot the Seven Six Two by Thirty Nine.:)

I am still unable to get over the ridiculous iron sights! Sure one could hang their gun up for convenience, but it is hard to look all gritty with a five inch sight on a rifle that is only twenty inches long.;)

I had to scroll back to the picture to see the sights you’re describing, I missed it the first time.

Man, you’re not kiddin’. I think my forefathers harvested wheat with a shorter blade on their scythes!

Stay safe!

I was told by a company associate that the RDB-C might be better for what I was looking for. Plus the C is also about $200 cheaper MSRP.
Coal Dragger, I hadn't heard that - any idea on the specific malfunctions? My only KelTec experience was an old P-11 that had a long trigger pull, but was completely reliable, used as a BUG doing armored work many years ago.

That's just silly, defend yourself with the Keltec, then when it jams, light it on fire and throw it... Best of both options.

I actually would kind of like a regular RDB, just not enough to lay down the cash. At least Keltec is making some of the regular RDBs, there are 44 on GB, the one Survival model I see is priced about $500 higher.
