Have 308 vs 30-06 threads gone the way of the Dodo bird?

I haven't seen people arguing about this in a long time.
Is that because both cartridges are firmly into the I use it because I want to camp?
I personally don't like either, but respect the 06 for being able to push heavy bullets with non Magnum recoil. The 308 is exceptionally accurate with anything I loaded it with.

Neither are latest and greatest, they continue to do what they always have tho. Personally I can remember the last time I remember arguing which was better, and it's been a few years.

06 for life! Even if I never shoot it.

Yes, seems both have now fallen out of favor due to the new, more vibrant cartridges.

Hard not to like the ole aught-Six.

all the know it alls and show off now shoot the 6.5CM lol. i like the 308 i like the 06 but not for hunting, i am cursed by 3006 lost my only 2 deer with a 06. one was a doe hit with a 150 hdy interloke must have blown up only found hair. the other was a ner 200'' alabama buck, not the 06 fault tho, i dropped the deer at about 350 on the edge of a powerline cut. the deer rolled down the hill onto the next property. the owner would not let me retrieve the buck, dec could not help.

.270 rules!!!

*runs for the hills*
I have no idea what caused the surge of 270 love hate threads. I thought 270 owners knew their cartridge is good enough at its (edited to remove apostrophe from its) job that it didn't need defending.
If you have to defend a cartridge, it's because you know there is one better suited for the task.

It is because by now, people have figured the 30-06 Springfield is the only cartridge needed. All other cartridges are just refinement and specialization for roles that could be filled by the 30-06. Many of us like to specialize, or invent excuses for buying a new rifle, and others are new to this, so they think new is better and buy some of the new stuff until they understand the 30-06 is all that was ever needed. ;)

I love and collect old military rifles like many do. So those 2 rounds will never be extinct (dodo bird). I could still find 45 GAP ammo and I think that there were only about 5 sold total, so there will always be ammo for those two rifles. I never cared for the 308 for any real use simply because I like others better but the 30-06 (although I dont use one) is a great deer round for areas like my blue ridge mountains. Nothing flat enough to need more range anyway and one can get a low recoiling rifle made my any company in any configuration as well as cheap ammo.

My first centerfire rifle was a 30-06. Won it in jr high, FFA cheese and sausage sale.

I’m not even sure how many 308’s I have, both work, what’s to argue?

Perhaps… People had just realized that those that prefer lever actions are going to like the 30-30 and those that prefer bolt or semi are going to go for the 30-06. Except for me of course, despite its deficiencies I will always prefer the lowly 303 Brit.

The 30-06 crowd can give me facts and figures, ballistic charts and speak of muzzle energies and drop… But when the coyotes gather around the roadkill deer, the Glenfield lever action and the Lee Enfield generally kill at least twice as many as the Remington 600. You can argue figures all day long, but there is no discount on results.

That explains car shows and beauty pageants, ...and the Olympics.

No, wait...

I meant the ignorant arguments, not the cartridge. Neither one is going anywhere.
