I have laid my hands on a supply of .625 hard cast round balls . I have a H&R tracker II 20 ga a standard weight single shot rifled shotgun . I have been loading a few and going to the club to shoot them, change something (usually a half grain more powder ) and do it again :D it usually does't take long till some one checking tagets with a spotting scope makes a comment about the big holes I'm putting in the taget . using the iron sights that come standard I regularly shoot 50 yard 5 shot groups 2 1/2-3 inches and a 100 yard group of 4 1/2 with 3 in a 2 1/2 triangle last time I chronagraphed had 5 shots between 1190 and 1201 and have bumped it up 1 grain more powder.

My starting goal on this project was 3 inch group @ 50 yards cheap enough loads to shoot enough to be familiar with the gun They are costing 61 cent each with an average of 3 reloads before the hull splits an average speed of 1200 f.p.s. My aim was to replacate a 20 bore rifle of 19 century British Impire .
What I have acheived is a gun/load combo that I can shoot fairly often with out breaking the bank, acurate enough to take the head off small game at 40 yards or less powerful enough to kill anything that walks in the lower 48 and is a straight up blast to shoot  :neener:
By the way I think the gun is capable of smaller groups at 100 yards my eyes combined with basic iron sights are what is keeping me from sub 2 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards

Thanks, Roy. I've often toyed with the idea of a "Bore" rifle in a single shot.

Hube's thread on THR may give you some feedback.....
