Help date a Rem 700 308 barrel?

Can anyone help me date my rifle, or at least the barrel? I've had it for a few years now, issue rifle, and I really don't know how old it is or the number of rounds previously fired through it before I got it. I would like to know if it's time to replace it or not.

Remmington 700 .308 with a 24"barrel
Barrel date code is EK 53
SN# C6601848

I checked the Remington website with that barrel code, but can't find a manufacture date.

Your 700 BDL Varmint was made in 1990.

Thank you Runningman. Based on it having 2-3 previous owners and length of time in the unit, that sounds like it should be around the time it was purchased by the dept. It's not as old as I thought it may be, and still shoots quite accurate. No need for a new one yet I guess. Thanks again
