First, let me warn you that I know almost nothing about guns...I'm not a collector and I don't hunt...I'm trying to get some info for my bf...kind of a Christmas surprise.
He was given a 410 pump shotgun by his grandfather 20 years ago, and has no idea the history of the gun. In reading the posts on this site, I have narrowed down, I think, that it was manufactured by JC Higgins for Sears...but I would also like to give him information on when it was made and what it's worth. Also, when he got it out of storage, he noticed some rust on the barrel. Is there some easy way to do it yourself type take it off, or should I have it professionally handled?
The model no. on the barrell of the gun is as follows:
21.410GA.583.2087
I downloaded a manual from another thread, but the last digit in the serial number on that was 5, not 7. It looks the same, and all the parts seem to be the same, but if anyone knows where I can get access to that exact manual, that would be helpful as well!
