I live in Los Angeles and need help in getting a CCW. I know how difficult it can be to get a permit, thus I could use any advice. I'm willing to relocate to another city in California if doing so would improve my chances of getting a CCW. But then I would like to move back to Los Angeles. Is it possible to move to another city for a short time, get a CCW, then move back to Los Angeles and keep the CCW? Can I make a donation to a politician or police chief and then get a CCW? I am willing to go to great lengths to get a CCW. Thanks for any suggestions.

You are going to have to relocate. From my understanding, in order to get a CCW in LA County, you have to be famous or kick over big bucks to the democratic party. I don't know about you guys, but dontating big bucks to the Democrats seems like a huge loss just for your CCW.

If you move to get your CCW, most likely you will not be able to move back with your CCW. If you live in a city and they won't let you apply to the county, you can move out to the sticks and apply. If you get your CCW you can move back to the city and keep your permit, but you have to remain in that same county. So if LA County won't give you a permit, then if you move out of LA County, you would have to stay in that new county. If you move back to LA County, you will lose your permit.

So you need to find a smaller city like Culver City or a new county like Orange County, San Bernadino (check on their friendliness), or Kern County. Your other option is to check on the possibility of having a "primary" residence in a friendly place and have your secondary residence closer to work or wherever you are at.

This is not going to be cheap or easy. Good luck.

Plenty of people establish legal residence in one of the rural counties that are basically shall issue, get the permit (which is good I believe for 2 years). Then you are good to go for a while.

The Kern county sheriff has had a reputation of being very good at allowing permits, especially in the desert area. This applies to county residents, cities could be a different story.
