Help getting into Hog Hunting (Central FL)

I've been wanting to get into hunting, and help with the hog problem down here. None of my family was ever into that so I don't have any hunting buddies/contacts (I guess I'm sorta a city slicker if you will). I see ads for guides and stuff but I thought I would check here first to see if there was an active group or someone in the West Central Florida area that would be willing to take on a protégé. It seems like with these things at least I would just need to find some one who would let me out on their land, but I honestly don't know where to start.

At the very least I could use recommendations on guides or where to go to get more info/get started etc.

Not hard to do or at least it wasn't when I lived there. Put in for the WMA areas you want to hunt or get in on a lease. The leases are the best way to go because you can shoot hogs 365 days a year on private land and set up a feeder. On WMAs you just have to still hunt. You will find sign and get on hogs if your slow and quiet and hunt the wind.

Drop me a PM and tell me where you are and I can direct you to public hunting that has hogs for the price of a license and WMA stamp. (That may cost about the same as a cheap hog hunt though.)

Check with Greg DeVault,he's a fishing guide in the Pasco area.A few years ago he told me he was taking clients hog hunting.I don't know what it costs.He has a website.

Check out Avon Park Air Force range. You may be too late for this year's season - they have a quota, but keep it in mind for next year. Some big pigs in there.

Hey guys,

I just moved to North East Florida, and I'm wanting to get out there and shoot some hogs too. I found a hunting guide in central Florida with what I thought were pretty reasonable rates, and I'm probably going to book a hunt with him soon. I can't remember the name of the outfitter off the top of my head, but if you're interested I've got the phone number written down, and I'd be happy to pm it to you.

If his first name is Jeremy, he's a good hunter. However, you have to do the hunting on his leases. No canned hunts.
