I have done alot of research with this question and cant seem to get a black/white answer anywhere. I know that someone here has the answer.
As everyone here knows supplies are limited and the Remington BR Primers were available through midsouthshooters, as No on else had any primers in stock.
I spoke with my local gunsmith and he says that in general BenchRest primers are excellent and are generally better than all regular primers. Makes sense, I paid $12 per 1,000 more for them than regular ones.

The Q: Can/should I use Remington Large Rifle BR's primers with the handheld LEE primer tool?

I see that FEDERAL and most other primers are not suggested. Due to being so thin.?? Also others like Magtech, and some other lesser known primers.
I notice they only suggest CCI or Winchester. But I also notice they accept Remington pistol primers, large and small.:banghead:
My concern is that I want to use the rifle primers and they arent recommended. But I have heard that they are an excellent primer and on the "harder" side of all primers in general.
I am aware that you should do this activity slow and cautious.
But I am leary that if its not safe in the hand loader what makes it safe in the press feeder?
I know its possible that nothing might happen, But I just want to make sure that its not a "definite no-no".
I am a beggining reloader and have read the 2nd edition Lee book.
Thanks

It is my understanding that Federal primers are more susceptible to detonation and the plastic parts of the hand primer do not protect one well hence the warning. I have loaded almost all other brands numbering in the tens of thousands on my easyprime with zero problems. I do not however load Federals with the easyprime. Also with the others that are cautioned against using I only put 30 at a time in the tray. This will minimize the problems if one ever does go bang. As to your question the other methods of priming keep the primer and casing securely captive and only let the discharge basically go out the neck end of the brass. I recommend that you do not look down the brass when priming no matter which method you use. Know the risks and make your choice accordingly.
Stay safe

Remingtons are at least as hard as CCI and at least in SR, harder than the current Winchester (since they switched to brass colored from the silver).

I use Rem BR all the time in both Lee and RCBS primers. By habit, I load 20 or 30 at the most, regardless of brand.

I've loaded thousands of Rem BR primers using a Lee Auto Prime and have never had an issue.

I have loaded thousands of federal gold medal primers and havent had a problem ,but the first time I tried to use the primer loader on the rcbs press i had one drop in sideways .. The only way i could get it out was to finish crushing it to get the shellhoder out . so i removed the primer arms from my presses after that

Thanks for the feedbacks fellas. And for the story....
I have checked with a few local guys and pretty much got the same response. Nobody wants to tell me directly "dont do-it" or "go ahead." I understand, everytime you turn around someone is trying to sue yah.
I think I will just load 20 at a time and see how it goes.
