I need to get a Cub scout trope an appreciation gift for a thing we do at work. The last two years I have gotten them pocket knives from the local hardware store.... The best knife in my price range was a Stihl knife, made by Camillus. It was a better knife that some that were priced three times higher.

I don't want to get them the same knife for a third year. What do you recommend for about $10. each. Sharpeners, knives etc etc?

Links would be helpfull.

Thanks

Just Some ideas.

Swiss Army knife

A compass

Flash light

Go to bladematrix and search Rough Rider, 23 pages of good quality knives under ten bucks.

The schrade listing has some NIB old stock

Good luck

I have to heartily agree about the Opinel Knives suggestion.
The offerings are of course reasonibly priced from SMKW and the product is outstanding.
The carbon steel stuff is hard to beat and in reality, it's all the knife that ANYONE REALLY needs.
My daily carry is in fact a scary -edged Opinel #10 carried in a flaslight holder.

I really like my Opinel. They come in tons of sizes, the blade is nice, and its such a great simple mechanism. Plus it was like 9 dollars.

Are these the same kids that got the knives last year? For $10 you're going to be hard pressed, but you should look at good quality key chain lights that they can replace the batteries in. I don't know any knives or sharpeners for $10 that would be worth having.

You can get a small SAK for $10.25 each at Amazon: link Its a bit over your price range, and shipping might break the deal. This is a pretty handy key chain light, and you can replace the batteries in it.

Thanks! I looked up Opinel Carbon Knives and will probably be getting some.

I have to get 10 to 15 knives and I don't want to get the kids something that will not sharpen.

I will give it a day or so before ordering.

Opinel Sizes

Regarding Opinels:

If these are intended for field use only, then anything from the #6 to #10 would be fine.

If these are intended for pocket carry, I would suggest that the #7 is probably the upper limit for pocket carry. In my own case, the #7 is actually too large for convenient pocket carry.

I can certainly endorse the Opinel. Good product for not a lot of cash.

(I have also found a very nice alternative to the Opinel, wood handle, simple blade, good steel, great edge, lockback, lightweight, and flat enough for easy pocket carry. Unfortunately, the best price I've found online for the Swede 88 is $20, about double your stated budget.)

Surprised you don't have to get a lawyer written legal release from every parent, and in-law, and out-law before you can give a cub-scout a real knife!!

SMKW.com has free shipping on orders over $50, A lot of back stock is pretty cheap too.

What, no mora suggestions? Standard mora is a good solid knife, Sheath could be better, but there are a few under $10

CRKT ringers are fun little knives. $10 ringer

Thought of the perfect SAK, but it's out of stock (at smkw anyway). Single blade $7 SAK floral
Friend has one of these and it's crazy sharp (after I played with it.) Would be the ideal boy scout knife. Easy to use, not tacticool like many things, good steel.

If it was like 2 days ago cabelas had benchmade knives for $8. I got there too late for the pardue style, but ordered some of the others. Christmas presents.
benchmades, gone now.

Quite a lot of buying power under $10. Lot of slip joints in the price range :: Marbles :: and things like this cheap kershaw :: Kershaw ::
Would even give you enough spare to buy a cheap LED flashlight, or small diamond hone.
