as background, we are renovating a 1804 house. Tearing down the kitchen cieling revealed an old rat's nest. Evidently a packrat as there were buttons, calling cards, pieces of toys etc. in it. One item is a brass shell. It is heavily corroded, so cleaning it up to look for markings might destroy it. I'd like to know what it is.
Overall length: 2.559"
Neck ID: 0.398-0.414"
Neck length: 0.377
The case has a slight taper to the shoulder, I did not measure OD because it is very corroded. LGS thought .45-70, or some antique.
Any help appreciated, thanks in advance.

Sounds like a 40/90 Sharps Bottleneck. Never seen one, but the description seems to match.
