I'm trying to get some input on the best red dot scope to buy, and what size MOA for use, with a .30-06 semi-auto for deer hunting. I'm looking at the red dot for quick acquistion of targets around 100 yards(and closer), and need a 30mm or larger for field of view, and like the 1X magnification. I hunt on public land and often have to shoot at moving deer in the 100 yard range. I would not want to go smaller then 30mm either. Since I'm looking for quick acquisition, a recommendation of a scope with little parralax is also very important.

Up until now, I've stayed far away from scopes because it is so difficult to "scope" a deer walking or trotting through trees/brush.

My opinion, for what its worth, would be go with a 2X scope, it is as fast as any dot sight if its properly mounted. Another advantage of a scope sight is its ability to give a few more minutes of shooting light at dusk.Thats Something you don't have with a dot sight. I have had good sucess with the Holo sight from Bushnell, at least it has never failed due to recoil. I have several Tasco Pro point 3s, they seem to stand the recoil of .357 magnum handguns quite well, but have had two failures with them, one on a 657 S&W .41 magnum, the other on a 629 S&W .44 magnum.

Not knowing where you are from, be sure to check you local hunting regs. My state says no electronics and any kind may be attatched to a firearm for big-game hunting.
