I've seen these rear sights before, but I know nothing about them. Are they after-markets? Did Kings put them on? Were they a special order that Colt had? In my opinion they look fantastic, but what is the history behind them? Though I'm not really a fan of Colt revolvers this particular model has caught my eye. Very good looking. And, as far as I know, these are two different Officer's models. Found the pictures on GunsAmerica. I've been told that the site isn't the best, but I don't plan on buying through them. I just like to look at the pretty pictures.

Looks factory stock to me (except for the Tyler T-Grip and trigger shoe on one and Pachmayr rubber grip on the other, of course.)
They are Officer's Model Specials made around 1950 with the "Coltmaster" adjustable rear sight.

There are three main versions and some variants.
The Officer's Model Target was made pre-WW II, some even pre-WW I.
The Officer's Model Special was made early post-WW II.
The Officer's Model Match was the last gasp of target revolvers, 1953-1969.

Jim Watson: I have a Colt Officer Special (sometimes referred to as the ugly Officer's Match due to the untapered barrel). Do you have any opinion on the Coltmaster adjustable sight (as to how it compares with other adjustable sights)?
