I am trying to decide which handgun will best suit my needs. Here is what I and looking for. Polymer, rail and durable.
Theres what I am thinking. My family has a few properties up in the mountains; currently my Springer 1911 is filling the role of my side arm when out and about. It has served me well but it does have its down falls. For one its not light and its stainless but itsstarting to show a little wear after about 10 years of service. It still works great but I hate to treat my first handgun this way.
The reason for the light rail is my friend came along on one of my weekend trips and brought along his issue 226 with a light and it sure was nice to have when going through gates at night, no need to look for your flashlight.
I have decided on the 40 S&W because I don’t have one, it’s a good performing round and I can get rounds from my friend sometimes, from his department.
I would be using the gun for protection from 2 and 4 legged foe; everything up to black bear and only bear if I can’t get to my Mossin or shotgun with slugs. Bear are rare; I have had to use my 45 on coyotes and rattlers.
I have looked at the following. I am trying to stay with the compacts.
Styer
Glock 23
Sig Pro 2022
My friend has a HK USP and not only do I not like it, its out of my price range.( around $500 is what I am shooting for).
I love my CZ 75 BD but I think I want to go with a Polymer frame. I have not heard good things about the CZ 100 and I don’t think I can get it here in CA
I really like the Styer but give the lack of accessories and the fact they are not currently being import scares me away.
The Glock fits all the requirements and that how I feel about it, I don’t really like it nor do I dislike it, kind of indifferent.
I like the Sig Pro, the only thing holding me back is it might be hard to find a holster that I can use with the light mounted.
I looking for gun that is not going to complain, works and I don’t notice its presence until I need it. Any insight you could provide would me very helpful.
